GB Studio Inventory System (x5 List Version)
This template and tutorial allows you to be able to have a x5 List Inventory System in GB Studio.
Below are downloadable files that contain the x5 List Inventory System.
(Made in GB Studio 3.1)
Try the DEMO to have a feel of the system.
Press Start, click Items and see the Inventory System.
Look around the room to find Items to add to the items in the inventory system. Click on the computer to see the amount of items you have. Find items on the side table, the chest, trashcan cabinet and the flower.
Features (and reminders):
- Press start for menu and pick items to pull up the inventory page.
- Items 1 to 5 will be in a list form that are all customizable depending on the sprite (texts) you'll be making for the actors showing the words.
- You will be able to interact with each item and use them to see the change in numbers after an item is used. Feel free to use the DEMO provided and play around with the system so you can fully understand how it works.
- The max number per item would be x99 each. Once an Item reaches 0, it will disappear.
- The scripts and formulas are readily made so you don't have to worry about that anymore.
*Major Tip: If you want to change the names per Item make sure to adjust everything else as well. The script names, the variable names, the item counters and actor sprite texts into the corresponding texts. Just so everything is organized.
For example. If you want Item 1 to be POTION.
Make sure the variables for Item 1 should change to Potion.
Variables:
MaxItem1 --> MaxPotion
Item1 --> Potion
Item1 Tens --> Potion Tens
Item1 Singles --> Potion Singles
.....so on and so forth along with the scripts and the actor sprites.
Important Reminder:
Make sure the number actors for the item counters animation are set to NONE. So they wont be jumbling up while they're idle.
Limitations:
There are only 5 items alotted for this Inventory System I made. It really is just for creators who no longer want to think about the formula as to how the item counters work and a simple layout created to give beginners a better idea how an Inventory System can be made in GB Studio.The counters have a delay due to the number of actors in the Inventory Scene but I provided two choices on how you want the counters to appear.
1. The counters will formulate and appear as a wave so it goes fast but it comes as Item1 then Item 2 then Item3 so on and so forth.
2. The counters will formulate and appear in a 0.1second delay on tick but appear all at once.
*FIXED* I disabled Automatic Fade In and added Fade Screen In after the number sprites appear so they all go appear together along with the fade.
Do as you wish with how this template works, you may tweak it, copy and apply it to different scenes with different kinds of ways for items to add and subtract. Mostly used in a buying system in a shop or when a character picks up items or wins stuff.
If you're having a hard time to make it work. Just copy everything to the dot then work from there :)

*Purchasing this will help me build my very first RPG game called Avior's Adventures. It's about my son's journey into becoming a local hero within the community of The Nest City by completing quests. You can bike around, fight mosquitoes in a turn based battle system, and level up. It's based on real life people and places here in (El Nido, Palawan). Quests are true to life and overall just making it for fun.
Thanks for dropping by!
